LSU Supported NTP Servers
Louisiana State University provides three NTP servers for public use with two interfaces each. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported on all interfaces. Here is a list:
- ntp1.lsu.edu
- ntp2.lsu.edu
- ntp3.lsu.edu
Currently ntp.lsu.edu is a cname that points to ntp1.lsu.edu. In the future, we will start rotating this cname on an hourly basis (similar to ntp.pool.org).
Please note that the actual ip addresses are changing soon. If you enter DNS names you should not have a problem with the following exceptions:
- Most network gear and some other devices translate the name to a number and only store the number
- NTP may cache the ip address, you may need to restart NTP to get the new address
NTP services are provided by LSU and HPC@LSU.
